ARY CEO Salman Iqbal celebrated his second wife’s wedding anniversary with great fanfare yesterday with the participation of celebrities from the showbiz industry.
Salman Iqbal was married to former actress and model Sonia Khan during his heyday, after which Sonia withdrew from showbiz.
Rahat Fateh Ali Khan’s singing was tied in the ceremony. Among those present on the occasion were Naomi Ansari, Fareeha Altaf, Faisal Qureshi, Adnan Saeed, Humayun Saeed, Adnan Siddiqui, Ejaz Aslam, Ali Rehman, Fahad Sheikh, Areeba Habib.
A special prestigious ceremony was held in which distinguished personalities who have rendered outstanding services in various fields were awarded Nishan-e-Imtiaz, Hilal-e-Imtiaz, Sitara-e-Pakistan, Sitara-e-Shujaat, Sitara-e-Imtiaz, Presidential Award for Excellence, Sitara-e-Quaid-e-Azam, Tamgha-e-Shujaat and Tamgha-e-Imtiaz. Salman Iqbal, head of ARY Network and owner of Karachi Kings, a major franchise of Pakistan Super League, was awarded Sitara-e-Imtiaz in recognition of his outstanding services in the field of sports, especially cricket.
Among the recipients of the distinction are Mohammad Naeem, Nazar Mohammad Rashid (late NM Rashid) and Majeed Amjad (late Abdul Majeed). Recipients of Hilal Imtiaz include Dr. Inam-ur-Rehman, Dr. Qamar Mehboob, Tahir Ikram, Rohail Hayat and Kishore Naheed. At the ceremony, Muhammad Azmi Abdul Hamid from Malaysia and Sheikh Ahmed bin Hammad Al-Khalili from Oman were awarded the Star of Pakistan.
The recipients of Sitara-e-Shujaat include Muhammad Bakhsh Bardo, Reshma Bardo and Brigadier Shafiullah Khan. Dr. Syed Hussain Imam Abidi, Rashid Rana, Syed Aqeel Bulgrami, Mahmood-ul-Haq Alvi (late) and Salman Iqbal have been awarded Sitara-e-Imtiaz. Recipients of the Presidential Award for Excellence include Syed Tajmal Hussain, Prof. Dr. Yasir Ayaz, Shakila Naz and Irfanullah Jan. Chaudhry Khalid Mehmood (Norway) has been awarded the Star of Quaid-e-Azam.
Muhammad Akbar Khan, the late Iqbal Masih, Abdul Ghaffar Sheikh Shaheed, Zia Hussain Shaheed, Tabassum Shabir Awan, Irfan Ahmad Khan Durrani, Asadullah Qureshi, Muhammad Ali, Ahmad Ali, Sadiq Hussain, Nooruddin, Malik Dara Khan Shaheed, Mohammad Rahim Shah, Mohammad Saeed Shah, Mohammad Waleed Sabir Khan, Waqar Ahmed, Abdul Qahar Khan, Jamil Ahmed Kalhoro and Adnan Malik. Among the recipients of the medal are Prof. Dr. Muhammad Abid, Momina Dareed Qureshi and Asad Mahmood.
The ceremony was attended by First Lady Begum Samina Arif Alvi, Federal Ministers, Ministers of State, Advisers to the Prime Minister and Special Assistants from various walks of life. Ceremonies for awarding civil awards for outstanding services in various fields were also held in the provincial capitals, in which the governors of the respective provinces presented awards on behalf of the President.
